    Hi,

Boss just came up with "original" idea to broadcast an ongoing event from the middle of the ocean.

Anyone have more-than-the-average, "...ummm you need a camera and a....satellite" idea? Is there maybe a company out there that would take make it possible, from start to end?

    Thanks!!!

Come on...what's the deal with this board?

No one has anything to say?

Does anyone know anything about live webcasts?

    Please?

I'll try my best to help you...

You'll need a satellite link. The speed probably doesn't matter because unless it's an FMV you won't need anything more than, say, a 33.6. Of course you might want to look into DirecPC for Internet access--it might only be available in the US though.

What kind of land will you be on? Will there be a power source or will it just be on a ship or something??

If it's on a boat then you'll want to not have a monitor and use Linux and just telnet in to make changes so you keep the power usage as low as possible.

If it's on an established island then you'll still want to use Linux and telnet in. If you use Windows, good luck using it w/o PCAnyWhere and what will you do if it freezes or BSODs?

    Hope this helps..
