I am trying to go from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7.
The 32 bit Vista was installed by mistake. My system can handle a 64 bit OS. Now I have finally found the time to upgrade. But the 64 bit intallation DVD can't be read from my OS. Any Advice?
You need to get into the BIOS and change the boot order so that the machine looks at the DVD drive to start the installation. I suggest you backup all your data, format the hard drive and do a clean Windows installation. Also, are you sure your Windows install DVD is OK? You can legally download Win 7 x64 SP1 from Download Crew, http://www.downloadcrew.com/?act=search&cat=67 then just use your legal Windows 7 serial key.
