    Hi,
I was just wondering if it was worth my time to get my site listed on The Open directory project. Do you get many hits from them?

I get a lot of hits from sites using their data. Since it only takes a few minutes there's not reall any reason I can see not to do it.

I don't know the exact numbers, but probably a hundred or so from my listings.

Its hard to get exact figures, but the results depend on a lot. I think it is worth being listed, it isn't hard or anything.

Why not? It's a great project and looks very promising.

No matter what I do I can't get listed in Dmoz. I submitted once and waited for 2-3 weeks nothing. I emailed them twice each one a week apart nothing. I then submitted again but nothing...

    They seem useless to me...

Dmoz really helps, becasue you also get listed in heaps of other search engines, (AOL, dogpile, Cs, websearhc, google, etc. etc. etc. etc.....) which brings me about 200 uniques a day, alltogether!

as far as getting listed goes, you may have got a slack editor... mine usually get listed within days!

My site is brand new and I get about 40 uniques a day. It takes a few weeks for all the sites to update their directories, but once they get the updated directory from DMOZ it makes a difference. I get most hits from AOL and a few from google.

Cloughie I bet the editor for your category is a little bias, probally has a site of their own there. You might sign up as an editor then enter your site and any others you know of that is not listed
