My stepmother is about 4-5 months pregnant with a baby boy, and the family is in the process of choosing a name.

We've narrowed it down to "Samuel Adams Bowyer" or "Jack Lewis Bowyer."

Samuel Adams is a famous patriot (some say he single-handedly sparked the revolution)...and Jack Lewis is C.S. Lewis' real name...

I personally prefer Sam...most of our family seems to feel the same. What does everyone here think?

I vote for Sam Adams since I think it is a nice sounding name and because it is my favorite beer.

LOL, ok. It is American sounding...

And yes, he is both the famous patriot and the "beer guy." I think the bottle even says "A brewer and a patriot"...although I seriously doubt most people take the time to read that.

Sam is Samuel - I was just stating the full name. We'd likely call him "Sammy", and maybe just "Sam" when he grows up a bit.

I only listed the two because our family has narrowed it down to those two...highly unlikely we'll go with anything else unless we really like it - and we've thought of most others already.

Benjamin (Benny, Ben) was an earlier choice, but Benny Bowyer sounded too goofy.

I did, maybe because I am a stockholder and I examine the product every which way Worst investment I ever made. Excellent product, dog of a stock. Really though, Sam Adams is a nice name.

My vote goes to Sam Adams. Love those radio commercials.

If you look at the initials though, I think JLB looks nicer than SAB. Adding another angle to your dilemma. Honestly though, I think Sam Adams is better.

I like Sam adams too. Btw - will your step mother name the baby Sam because every @ Sitepoint liked that name?

Hank, LOL...that's just short for "Henry" anyway.

I dunno how much consideration this will generate...but since we're already leaning towards Sam the results will likely reinforce that. So yeah, there's a chance it might be the difference between the two.

Not a big fan of Jack, I'd have to say. My preference would be Jake. Given that your surname is pretty common, I reckon that you need to choose a first name that's not so common, without going overboard. It's helps later on when you want to be remembered. Call it personal marketing...

Since I'm more or less a brewer (actually more of a brewer than Sam Adams ever was) I'd have to go with Sam Adams.
    Cheers!
