    Red face Non-profit Organization

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you guys could help me brainstorm some ideas to improve a website that I designed for a local non-profit organization.

I did the work as a volunteer, and I'm maybe slightly above an amateur, but I would really like to do a good job so any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

Please help review this website in the following areas, and if you could suggest some ways I could make the following aspects better, I would really appreciate it:
    • Design
    • Content
    • Navigation

    Yeah, I'm picky about details.

OK, to be honest, the site looks great to me: clear and nicely designed. A great job for a non-profit site.

My one main comment would be that the logo at the top is a bit lost in all that white space, and kind of wastes some really important screen real estate. I would suggest the following:

    - move the navigation to the top of screen
    - move the landscape image to where the logo is now
    - Place the logo over the landscape image, probably on the right.

Rough example attached. Logo will need modification to work over the image. Maybe a white bg.

I knew there was something I could rework there in order to free up some space for some other items that I've been wanting to add to the site (like breadcrumb navigation), so that is really going to help. I'll re-post once I make some edits in a week or so.

That is such great advice man, thank you. I would have never thought of that, but that's actually a very good idea.

And any other advice would be welcomed, thanks in advance.

I agree with ralph, good overall design...very easy to navigate, straight forward, etc. Don't care to much for the logo, maybe a re-design, or at least high quality graphic. Would also consider maybe rotating banner or something to give it a little more life. More photos, maybe of the officers, or of past meetings, etc.

I guess in summary, very functional and clean....but very simple.

    Just my 2 cents.

@gene438 I agree, the logo is a real bummer, I'm currently trying to convince them to do a re-design so we'll see what happens.

I need to ask them for photos again now that you mention it, thanks for your suggestions.

the site looks good now.. Not sure if you have fixed all bugs as per previous comments.. Logo looks too big for a site.

    Hello

I agree with much of whats been said. Its a nice clean design, and I also like the colour scheme. I also very much like the styling of the navigation across the top.

A couple of thoughts on how it could be improved...

    1. Do you feel the navigation in the sidebar is really necessary? if so, I wonder if it could be styled a little more attractively. I find it slightly confusing, because it has some different links to the main nav, but also some of the same.
    2. I also think perhaps it could be improved with a more eye-catching image on the front page than the one of the oil pump. Perhaps one which includes some land men?

    Hope that is constructive criticism!

    Well done

Nice, clean design and the message is clear. One thing i notice is when you your title <title> is redundant "East Texas Association of Petroleum Landmen | The online home of the East Texas Association of Petroleum Landmen". I would rewrite it with some keywords that may help it rank higher.
