Here in the US, I have not seen pre-recorded minidiscs available for sale. Even the devices while selling well, now after being on the market for almost 10 years, are getting eclipsed by mp3 players.

What I do is to buy CDs and than copy them digitally onto MDs. The extra cost is minimal and I can create cusomised albums.

It's a real shame that they are not more popular because MDs are real nifty. The players are smaller than portable CD players and far more flexible than the MP3 ones.

Sony released the first minidisc players back when I was in college. I went to college from 1990 - 1993. I remember seeing them and wondering why anyone would by a $1000 dollar system to play them when they could get CD players for around $100 bucks. Today CD players can be had for as low as $25.00 here in the US and Minidisc players are just starting to get popular.

You can find them at Best Buy. I have seen pre-recorded MD's. I actually own the Mariah Carey - Butterfly one.

Well I am off to listen to some Mariah Carey now. lol

I think MiniDisk players are better than MP3 players. You can get 1 hour of music for a MiniDisk for only $4-$5 a card rather than expansion for a MP3 player @ $50-60 for the same amount.

Of course, MP3 players are much cooler.
