convert site DB from ColdFusion 8 => WordPress3, "echo response"

I just got a new client, [save the celebration until after we get a check].

The new client's site is ten years old and written in ColdFusion running in a CF 8 server envronment. I asked the Network Admin to give me a backup of the site DB, kind of half expecting a text-based SQL file. Buy instead I got a binary file (.bak) and the files first four letters were "TAPE" (same four letters as in two month old back-up file).

Any one have a clue on mwhat this file is? The idea here is to migrate the CodFusion DB file info over to a MYSQL DB.
I imagine this is going to happen a lot since CF has lost its market.

    no idea what this is

CF never had its own database, it accesses some other database server like oracle or mysql

what does "CF has lost its market" mean?

there's no java forum either, and a recent thread asking about java was directed away from sitepoint forums by one of the programming advisors

at least they haven't done that for coldfusion questions

after i posted this, that post about java has been corrected, so i thought i'd mention that here -- threads for all languages other than php would go in General Web Development & Application Design Issues

Further research shows this file is MicroSoft SQl Server backup file.
