I am starting a wireless bitmap library on my site. So far I have 1 decent one. If anyone else has eny good ones around can you submit them please?
You dont have to make previews because I already wrote a perl program to do that...
thanks.
I think I'll use some cause I want to make my site accessible through a phone just for practice in the near future. I'll be sure to check your site when I do!!
you can make wbmps either with my wbmp creator (it creates them from windows bitmaps) http://www.incomplete.co.uk/?wap4 or a commercial tool.
So it isn't blatantly obvious I am shamelessly promoting my own tools, there are other free converters as well such as http://www.teraflops.com/wbmp/ where you can create them from the comfort of your web browser.
Internet Works Magazine http://www.iwks.com
This month's issue brings a complete WAP tookit on its CD with WAP emualtors and image bitmap makers. Also brings a photoshop plugin so you can do your bitmaps in photoshop if you so wish.
I think I might get that tomorrow because I dont actually have a WAP phone (in fact I am part of the 49% of the 'mobile underclass' in Britain according to an article in the times a month or so ago... huh I've got an ISDN line instead) to see what my sites look like I have just been using the gelon.net emulator...
Do you know what the program names that were included with that magazine are? It looks like a UK magazine so I doubt I'll find it over on the other side of the pond (aka the US) and I don't really feel like plopping down cash for a full subscriptions.
Does anyone really use WAP more than occassionally? I looked at a WAP phone at a store and can't imagine wanting to browse the web on 4 (or 6) lines of text. It gives me a headache just thinking about it. (And it seems like it would go through your bank account pretty quick.)
