I know there are free hosting services, such as tripod or geocities. Am I obliged to use their editors only?
I can code in HTML, and I've created some much preferred pages. I would love to be able to create a ghost or pointer page to my own stuff, using the host services' editor.
    Is this feasible?

Tripod, Angelfire, Geocities, Hypermart and most free online hosts allow you to use FTP programs besides their editors. I think Angelfire and Tripod (both are actually owned by Lycos) are the most liberal and give you the most tools to work with.

Actually, not only can you upload via FTP- they usually have their own "Easy upload" tool so you can upload straight from the browser!

For a free (no ads but no FTP with free account) ASP host try EWebCity.com they even have Access Database support.
They have several very useful ASP components available and for $10.95 a month you can have their premium membership.
