Can anyone recommend a good place for someone like myself to start learning about JavaScript and Java Applets? I know HTML, CSS, and a decent amount of Perl and PHP, but overall have VERY little experience with Java and JavaScripts, other than the usual cut-and-paste...
Any advice would be helpful! Thanks.

this is by far the best tutorial I have ever taken for javascript. they don't have sample code, they just teach you how to do it...inside and out. by lesson 5 you'll build your very own browser.
Thanks for the links guys, WebMonkey is right up my ally...but I'll definetly checkout Kevin's stuff later on.
Thanks again! Keep the links coming if anyone else out there has any recommendations.

It has many tutorials aimed at teaching the basics of Java, such as event handling, animation, and setting up Graphical User Interfaces. Over 80% of the tutorials come with sample applets and well commented source code for those applets. There are forums where you can post any questions you might have. I check the forums at least once a day for new messages so I can help people.
I would be willing to answer any more questions you have. Just email jim@freejavahelp.com
