backgroundColor property is not working on the latest jQuery version

I have a problem with my javascript code.
When I was using jQuery 1.6.3

backgroundColor: 'rgb(255,255,255)'

was working.
But if I load the new jQuery 1.7.1 this line of code does not change the background color to white as it is supposed to do.
Any workaround on this one guys?
