Problems with Mozilla and auto overflow

Hi,

I am trying to define a pixel defined two column layout inside an overall div box using two divs. However while it works fine in Internet Explorer when I load it in Mozilla it breaks because it puts the scroll bar outside of the dimensions of the box which means the 2 columns in total no longer fit inside the container!

Sounds to me like Mozzie's fine, is it IE 5x that's presenting it as you want to see it?

IE5/PC is probably the issue.

Also, if you use any server-side scripting to change the CSS, make sure you don't screw up IE5/PC and IE5/Mac. IE5/Mac renders everything like it should, not like the PC version which messes up the box-model.

From what I can tell the problem I am having is with Mozilla as it displays fine in IE 5.5 It is nothing to with the borders but to with the scroll bar which but my reckoning should be placed inside the dimensions of the div as it's dimensions differ depending on how a particular browser draws its scroll bars, but Mozilla places it on the outside of the div henc making the div box wider than it should be. The example I posted looks great in IE but the right hand index menu gets pushed underneath the content box when displayed in Mozilla!


Any other ideas.

I appologise profusely for my previous post!!

Thanks to those who replied to my first I wasn't getting my head round your answers to begin with becuase I was being distracted and thinking it was the scrollbars at fault but it wasn't it was the borders and padding!

Argghh what a nightmare, fixing IEs mistakes in your CSS but it works now.

Jofa, I thought that was a CSS1 spec?
