I have heard that it is possible to insert a counter on a separate page to the one that i wish to count traffic on. Is this true? If so, how?

If not, is there any way in which i can do this?

I will be using a free ISP so i will not be able to use anything other than HTML and JAVA-Script.

    Can anyone help me?

I recommend http://www.SiteMeter.com - you can customize your counter to be transparent if you wish...I use their service with several sites and am quite happy.
