    ideas for layout problem

I need some ideas for this site i have done for a client. (I am new to the design side of things so be gentle).

    The site is http://www.artasolar.com.au

On the info and products page you will notice there is a fair amount of scrolling required. My client hoped to be able to scroll through the content while keeping the header and side bar visible.

I wanted to avoid frames and thought an iframe would do it - the problem is resolution of 800 x 600 gives two vertical scroll bars very close to the right, and to get to bottom of content you need to scroll both.

Any ideas? Did i make sense?

    Regards,

    Peter

Why not make your design liquid? Instead of having your table size in this way: <table width="780" ... >, you can specify percentages: <table width="100%" ... >.

Why don't you post it in website reviews , you'd get more of a feed back.

well, ... what u could do is, make the layout with CSS align centered.. or a table width 90-100% center aligned... that's how it could work out.
    Peace.

I'm guessing this might get moved to the review section of SitePoint

But I'll give my opinions anyway. I was loving it until the header popped up. Solar Wind Water, does that have to be 3 different colors and a serif font? I think it woul;d look nice in one color and a san-serif font. Perhaps Century Gothic or Trebuchet MS. The address and phone number to the left of that is not the same font that the rest of the site has. Atleast not in Netscape. It looks like some kind of mono-spaced font. And sorry if this offends, but that thing on the left is an eyesore. It obviously has been altered for whatever reason and just looks jaggy in the black and muddy in the red section.

Everything below the header is beautiful

Hope that helped and didn't hurt any feelings. I think you did a very good job for your first site.

As Peter's asking for help to solve an issue with this site, I won't enforce the "this is a review posted in the wrong forum" thing. However, it would be appreciated if members kept to discussing ways to solve this problem rather than post general feedback about the look of the site.

Yup, an iframe should work. To get round the dual-vertical-scrollbar problem, I suggest specifying a height for your iframe so that it all fits into one screen at 800x600. Then the browser's main scrollbar will be disabled and you'll just have the iframe's scrollbar to contend with.
