I've had enough!
Not sure if I should be posting names/companies etc but seriously...OK how many people here keep getting spammed by TrafficMagnet? I have tried ignoring them and I get SPAMMED. I have tried unsubscribing, and I get SPAMMED.
What happens is their robot visits your site, and you get an email like this:
Hi
I visited www.mysite.net and noticed that you're not listed on some search engines! I think we can offer you a service which can help you increase traffic and the number of visitors to your website.
I would like to introduce you to TrafficMagnet.com. We offer a unique technology that will submit your website to over 300,000 search engines and directories every month.
You'll be surprised by the low cost, and by how effective this website promotion method can be.
To find out more about TrafficMagnet and the cost for submitting your website to over 300,000 search engines and directories, visit www.TrafficMagnet.com.
I would love to hear from you.
Best Regards,

We honor all removal requests. Please click here to be removed from our mailing list.
So here is my plan... you don't have to own a website to do this, it's pretty simple. Simply copy and paste the message below and email it to Sarah_Williams@TrafficMagnet.com (or any other email addresses you can find on their website). You can send it once, or as I suggest at least fitty times.
Hi
I visited www.TrafficMagnet.com, and noticed that you're not listed on some search engines! I also noticed that your site is in fact really ugly to look at and the words "Standards Compliant" are clearly lost on you. I think we can offer you a service which can help you sort out your online venture.
I would like to introduce you to several services. The first is http://validator.w3.org. They offer a unique service which ensures your code is even actually valid.
The second service is, http://www.websitesthatsuck.com. You'll be surprised by the low cost, and by how effective this website promotion method can be. I am sure if you submit to them, you'll have the number one spot instantly.
The third service is http://www.spamcop.com. You will be surprised at the number of service providers that get submitted to them, and find out what happens when you send unsolicited email to people who really have no interest in what you are offering.
Interested? I would love to hear from you.
I do have a quick question for you though. You offer a search engine optimisation service -- why then, when I click on http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...magnet&spell=1 which is a google search for those keywords AND a search within the results for your service are you NOT listed at the top? 9th place on a really specific search is really poor!
Best Regards,

We don't need to honor removal requests because unlike you we don't purchase email addresses in a sad attempt to make our sad service better. We have working methods for increasing our profits. I'm a so sick of TM. I kept getting spams from the same "person" for months, and finally broke down and replied with a really nasty email and it stopped for about a month and a 1/2. After that, I started getting the same email again, only from a different "person." I just ended up kill filtering anything associated with them, and all has been quiet since.

That is a pretty funny letter you wrote there weirdbeardmt
You prompted me to register a spam related domain that I was checking for ages that was expired but not released.
It is now available!
yay.....sort of
The domain is spamrage.com which I reckon is pretty good.
However, I didn't need anymore domains. ahhhhhhhhhh You made me buy this with your blatant instance of Spam Rage.
I don't tknow what I could make the site maybe show people the orginal style letters and then the spam rage style letter like you wrote.
I dunno.
Anyway good case of spam rage

for something that large i might need a little bit more tech knowledge and skills than i posses.
i might just set up an anti spam site and maybe encourage incedents like your letter.

I sent an email to TrafficMagnet's hosting company and to TM asking them to stop spamming my clients.
I kept getting frantic phone calls about not being listed in search engines.
Still waiting to see if it worked.

Well to be perfectly honest I was a little suspicious. Maybe it's just me being cynical but given that the King was being held in isolation in the middle of Africa in a cell with no windows and he hadn't so much as even seen a grain of wheat in the last 24 years, I was dubious that they were letting him check his hotmail. But still, maybe I shouldn't be critical all the time.
His wife emailed me once before, but I felt bad because i felt sure she was only a trophy wife and she was trying to bleed him dry and run off with the milkman.
Which reminds me, he never did respond to the "Hope you are freed soon" Hallmark card i sent him last month. Right, I'm definitely ont going to let him use my bank account anymore.
Er, anyone want to help me dispose of 16 jillion dollars?I swear to drunk I'm not God.

My Sitepoint > Options > Post Elements > Uncheck 'Signatures'
I'll change it when I feel like it.

Spoken like a true tart.
A more apt solution would be:
My Sitepoint > Buddy/Ignore List > Edit Ignore List > (add) 'Sketch'
After all, why should I have to miss out on the sigs of those who are more 'community spirited' just to avoid your redundant output?

I wouldn't know.
You're the first person I've been tempted to use it on.
(and that's saying something given my past dealings with HB)
Why are you being such a sod about your sig?
S'deadwood mate, lob it off.
I assume you are still subject to the 'reputation' scores.
I'd be perfectly justifed in reflecting your shoddy attitude there (fwiw).

TrafficMagnet.com is [211.99.203.193] basically just one of those people who know that there is no technology nor any authorities in place to prevent unwanted spamming.
So I used a DDoS attack on them and oddly enough they only seem to have about a T1's worth of upstream bandwidth (about 1.5Mbps) If you get 5-6 computers to DoS them, you'll soak up their bandwidth.
After I thretened TrafficMagnet, I've never seen them spam me again. The funny thing is that my user agreement (bound to any person, script or "virtual visitor") states that screen captures or the taking of any resources is ILLEGAL. And as you know, TrafficMagnet shows a screencap of your website in their email. (in essense, giving me the proof that they broke my user agreement)
I can't believe that you actually have to battle these people on your own; ISP's are SO scared to put their foot down on anyone who's abusing their customers. It's pitiful

Hey, that idea about making a site that encourages spam-rage emails is a good idea...anyone up for a little project?

I honestly think some money could be made creating a law-enforcable list of email addresses that CANNOT receive spam. Problem is that even if someone breaks it, current technology provides no way to find people who spoof their return addresses...
