Please Review My URL Redirection Web Site

    Hello there.

I've recently released a free URL redirection Web site called Diminishr.
Diminishr essentially diminishes long URLs, thus making them short and easy to use.

If you would be so kind as to give an honest review of Diminishr, that'd be great.
It is my first official Web site, so I don't expect too much.
    All criticism is warmly welcomed.

Here's the Web site URL: http://diminishr.com/

    Review away!

    Thank you.

Backround color too bright I think!
And actually I can't understand why people should use such service? What for?

    It's very very minimal.
I would centre it vertically as well.

I would add a small page with some minor info too.

So I should darken the background, center it vertically, and add some info as to why someone would need it.
Alright. I'll get to it! Thanks!

Looks like it works well enough, but what distinguishes it from similar services?

I'd agree with others here about darkening the background color and adding some copy to tell people why they'd want to use this service.

I'm not sure if it's beyond the scope of the review, but what about a shortened link preview feature. A lot of people are wary about clicking shortened links, and rightfully so.

I suppose it doesn't differ from similar services—maybe I could change that.
What sort of preview do you have in mind?
I've considered showing them an iframe of the URL upon visiting it, which would then ask whether or not the user desired to proceed onward.
    Is that what you mean?

Yep, either that or as a static screencap.

i like the background color, very straightforward design.. but i think the domain name is too long, dm.is should be short enough

Thanks to everyone who has reviewed this. I've completely rebuilt it from the ground up. The programming is a bit nicer now, but that's not important here. The design was changed, too. The logo is aligned in the center, the spacing is better, and the background is darker. I don't think I'll add any information regarding its purpose on the page, because if you were to find the Web site via a search result, you'd already be searching for things like "URL redirection" or "link shortener". I wasn't able to align it vertically, but it looks fine without that. I have yet to add a preview for the short links. I'll do that soon. http://diminishr.com/

I say nice job also, but would also add a small neat section explaining why it is needed

I like this site, clean crisp and to the point. I think it looks professional and trustworthy which is always nice. The only thing I would say is that diminshr is kind of long for a url shortener. Like @aryo_s said above, dm.is would be awesome.

I love handy tools like this that present the tool plain and simple, without a ton of superfluous stuff. The tool worked perfectly for me, so you're almost there with a useful little app.

I would, however, add just a bit more content - nothing to muck up the appealing simplicity, but just enough to answer the basic questions someone might have who has never used one of these before. Probably you could do this with just one FAQ link, and on that page, you could answer things like:

What Can I Do with Diminishr?

Will People Still Get to My Regular Web Address?

What Kinds of Sites Should I Use this On?

etc. .... As Eric Sevareid reportedly said, "Never underestimate how intelligent your audience is, but never overestimate how informed they are."

Thank you for the very informative reply.
Okay. I'll play around with it to add some information about its uses and whatnot.
    Thank you!
