I don't want to rekindle any of the arguments that dominated the first three pages of this thread, but the link provided was nothing more than one guy's notes/slides for a presentation. It was not the presentation. It was a very incomplete look at what he actually presented. Did anyone participating in this thread attend that presentation or read an actual transcript? If so you haven't mentioned it. So interpretations and extrapolations are going to be highly subjective. Until something more concrete is released it seems foolish to talk in definitives about what Yahoo is doing.

Anybody have any other links to articles or published statements on this topic?

Aha! Yahoo already had experiences with PHP before so they know what they're doing.
    From article:
Yahoo has already started using PHP for new properties, like the remember.yahoo.com site which was created as a September 11 tribute. Other early adopters of PHP at Yahoo included the PayDirect Site, the Classifieds - "Express" premium service, the personalized Yahoo News feature and almost the entire Yahoo Travel site.

Some of you may already be aware of this but I've just discovered another major coup for the open source scripting language PHP:

I'd argue against PHP crashing your browser, its all done server side, its someones crap client side code.
In a world where the human mind
can be programmed like a computer,
at what point does the human soul end
    and the cybernetic machinery begin?

Excuse my poor grammar. By "it", I of course referred to Britneys site, not PHP.

Hardly that impressive, given that it's the Java app doing all the work. Ah well, maybe they'll show the power of PHP yet...

Maybe they should change the name from PHP (doensn't really mean anything anyhow) to T&A now?

Perhaps it's an example of integrating PHP into their website, rather than an impressive display of PHP's power

We can all say we're proficient in T&A then

Perhaps, but considering what they've already spent, and that the PHP crew has been working 6 months, it's hardly an impressive first public offering.

I personally can't wait for them to show the power of it. To really use it in a core part of their website. That's not a negative statement, it's just the truth
