I own a network for webmasters located at http://echowebhq.com/. I also publish a bi-weekly eZine called Developer's Journal. So far, we've been getting about 50 new subscribers per week for 3-4 months.

Anyway, last week I was reading a post by some newsletter publisher at GetHighForums.com who said that he implemented popups on his site which increased he subscribers vs. visitor rate from 1% to 2.2%

Anyway, I tried this technique which loaded a popup window (http://echodev.com/other/dj.htm) when a visitor leaves my site or changes a page. Using cookies, I set the popup to appear every 45 days. The results?

I'm getting 40-55 new subscribers PER DAY which is an increase of about 700%.

Not bad, huh? This technique may not work for everyone but it certainly did for me.

I'd love to hear some opinions and facts from webmasters who already do this...
