Hi, this is my first non-personal (meaning I'm serious about developing it) website that I've developed. With that in mind I'm sure there are loads of things I've neglected to think about. Maybe you guys could help me out a little.

    The url is: http://www.jumpingpenguins.com/

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it!

Nice looking site. A few very minor things I found though. That picture on the main page looks a little awkward. That poll is a little weird too (What's your name? lol). Before you actually launch the site, you had better fill up links on the links page, add more puzzles, and just basically add more content on some of those pages listed on the sidebar. Main page content looks fine though.

Haha, I didn't expect this thread to be opened until tomorrow I'm in the process of changing the poll question from that one(the one I used for testing). Which picture are you referring to? The one in the main content section?

lmao! The site actually looks really good. But, do you just have all the time in the world to publish such a meaningless site? More power to ya. Hey, at least you took the time to make it look professional! How do I join????lol!

    * I like the gray gradient bar at the top, though the area around the black text is a bit rough.

    * Your curvey corners (between the yellow and blue and between the white and yellow) need some work. They seem a bit ragged.

    * Font consistency -- seems like you're using at least a half-dozen fonts on the main page.

    * In the right nav column, your headers (Penguin Stuff and This Weeks Poll) look exactly the same as menu items. Doing something to set those off (a different font color and/or background) might help. Also, that font is hard to read.

    * Your photo might look better centered beneath the headline.

    * Some pages (e.g. "issues") have white space at the bottom of the content, while others (e.g. "leaflet") don't. Be consistent.

    * Just a bit of animation on the main page might help to liven things up. These are "jumping" penguins, so shouldn't the little guy at the top be at least wiggling around a little bit?

Overall, I like the design. It's very clean and attractive. Content is, well, cute. Nice job!

Overall it looks good, but that picture at the top is a little blurry. And the yellow looks out of place on the left. I like the rounded edge on one side. I've really got to learn how to do that.

Don't have a lot of time, but noticed a broken link on the FAQ page, answer to second question: Click here!

Also, in your disclaimer, "creators" is misspelled.

Ok, I'll get to work on making better corner graphics.. unfortunately graphics is not where my skill lies

I'm not sure what to do about the fonts, I initially wanted to use Trebuchet MS but then discovered many computers don't have the font. Also, when specifying several fonts in CSS, I dont know how to put in fonts with more than one word. It threw off Netscape and made it all Times New Roman, hence the links being Arial.

I'm considering changing the font in the right nav column because it is difficult to read in Netscape, in IE it looks fine tho. Any suggestions as to what to put in its place?

I'm going to put white space in all of the pages, once all the ones that need to be tehre for the release are uploaded.

As for animation, we've been having difficulty with that but decided on shrinking the original Jumping Penguin animated image into something that would fit into one column.

We're aware of the broken link on the FAQ page, I believe there are two, and one on the support page. Those links have to be uploaded.
The disclaimer was written ages ago, I forgot to proofread it I guess. Thanks for the tip.

Any more comments? I've only really gotten a single *real* (meaning in-depth.. not that all other comments arent appreciated as well) review
I could use a few more..

    thanks!

You wanted more critics? Well here they come and I won't spare you

    - The image at the top is a little unsharp
    - The inner round corner (where the light yellow touches the white is not so round as it should (or should it look this way?)
-I'm not sure about the black mouseover on the #333333 BG

I had to stop here, it was getting late by then ( 10 PM) and I was getting tired.

But it's a good site and, although small, you can really laugh with it

this is not bad at all, it has a corporate feel to it, but i feel it needs tidying up a bit, the butttons on the top right, the rollovers arn't very clear. Instead of the button menu on the left why dont you use a drop down menu? they look quite cool, and would suit your site no end.
apart from that keep up the good work.

My only comment is that you should try to sharpen up your top image. I find it a little hard to read.

    your site

    Hello,

It took me a while to give up figuring out what your site was about : ) Looking at it from a design point of view, I think your site would look a lot cooler if you replaced the gray at the top with the same color blue that is on the sides so it looked like once piece. Also make sure you clean up the text on the top bar a little. Because it is your logo I think, try using a text that is a little more distinct, and easier to read. Helps for getting people to remember the site for return visits.

Seen your site, very professionally done, but don\'t really know what it is all about. Hope this helps a bit.
