He's known because he is 7-6 and a freak of nature with pretty good basketball skills. I haven't seen more than highlights of him, but I doubt he'll last in the league. Call me a skeptic. It should be interesting.

I've seen him play and he's just about as good as Mutombo. However, his weight is not something he's going to have an advantage on under the basket.

    freak of nature
Where did you get that from? *sigh*

Just look at this picture for christs sake! http://nbadraft.net/profiles/yaoming.htm

What is the point? He can just lift his arm and let the ball fall in...
    Is that sport?

That wasn't intended as an insult or low blow ... it was meant in a positive way ... you might call someone a "freak" if they are a unique physical speciman. He's very unique.

Well..i think he´ll need 1 or 2 seasons to get into the right shape and attitude to withstand the bigger center "forces" like shaq, arvydas sabonis (yes he´s back with portland!), dikembe mutombo...and Shawn "Siggi" Bradley p) ...

But he´s definetly some good "raw material" which could become an all-star caliber (like Hakeem back in 93-96) and will definetly help Houston improve their results !

    Cheers Ingo

Yoa Ming will be a success in the league. It might take him a couple of years to get used to the new rules and get strong enough for NBA play but he has got solid basketball skills, something that all too many NBA big don't have (they are simply strong and can jump). Once he gets strong he'll dominate big men for years to come.

As they say, you can't teach 7.6"!!

I've seen a lot of his games this season and he blows. He needs to gain a lot of weight. Yao is someone like Shawn Bradley (7'4). All height no weight. Thats why Raef LaFrenz is starting for Dallas

He has a pretty good low post game. Not a good shooter like Hakeem. He has the chance but right now crtques will be on him all season long.

he is big but i cant see him being anything other than another shawn bradley.

ok, that isnt bad after all, but he will never be a great player in the nba. for his height he needs to put on about 50 lbs in weight and i dont think that will happen.

Yao's a shooter (perimeter shooter too). Comparing him to Bradley is like.... comparing carrots to.. potatoes.....
