looking for a MS visual basic package for a student
can anyone point me in the direction of a site which will allow a student friends of mine (he is about 15) to purchase a copy of MS Visual basic. I was under the impression that as he is a student he is entitled to a discount of even free copies of some software. But I can't find any information on this.
Am I right in thinking he can get a copy at cheaper prices due to him still being in education?
Any links or pointers in the right direction woudl be great
You can either do one of the following two things:
1. Barnes and noble sells visual basic .net professional with a reference book for $119.99
2. Best buy sells vb.net pro (no book) for $99.99
3. You can go to your local college or university campus and buy the book for the VB class. Usually the book includes a learning edition of VB and the book is about $50-70. That's how I got my start (I took VB in college though, your buddy is starting young!).
Anyway, good luck! That's all I really know aside from going to microsoft directly.
What does he need?? Visual Basic.NET or Visual Basic 6?? They are pretty different but if he needs .NET I can get him the Academic version for free... It is actually the Standard version with the Academic logo..... Just let me know.
And no to anyone else who needs the software who is over the age of 17. Sorry, its the rule.
