I am trying to view it useing netscape and no images are there, so i can not navigate around as the image for the image map is not there??
Also that shade of red is not very easy to read, need to strain 8-)
Please note when i review i just tell it as i see it and am not complaining or anything so please do not take anything i say personaly
You need to break up the Image Map based navigation and add "Alt" attributes to the resulting smaller images. This will do two things. Make your page appear to load faster and allow people with images turned off or the blind to navigate your page.
You should also provide some sort of text based navigation as well.
OK, I redid the images so that it doesnt say IMAGES.com on all of them in Netscape (why did this happen, I dont knw) It looks much better in IE. I'm working on the sliced up images, and then I'll finish of the text. ANyone got any commnets, loading time, speed, colours.
I am using IE4 on a PC platform and checked it at 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768. I am running on a DSL line.
First, it loaded quickly.
From the links and homepage, seems like the finished site will have a lot of relevant and interesting info for fans.
Couple things - I think it's been mentioned that the text color of the links in the image map is hard to read. I agree. Just isn't enough contrast between the brown text and red in the bg image. Maybe black? Maybe use a mouseover effect and have it turn white?
At high resolution especially, the text in the "Network" box to the right is very hard to read.
Also, at 800x600 and 640x480, had to scroll horizontally to see whole page left to right. I know some people ignore 640x480, but 800x600 is still pretty standard and it is a bit annoying to have to scroll horizontally. Without really spending a lot of time looking at your code, I can only suggest that you use a percentage based holding table and that the combined widths of any pixel defined cells or images appearing in the same row do not add up to more than approx. 780 pixels to keep everything on the screen at 800x600 or approx. 620 pixels if you want to make 640x480 users happy as well (remember the left scroll bar takes up about 20[?] pixels). I am not sure what the width of your banner ad is, so I am not sure if this will be possible with the image map and banner ad beside each other. Hope this made sense. May want to check with some more experienced people for better ideas.
I am a stickler for color and the red and orange text do not quite seem to match the colors in the image map. This is not a big problem and I only suggest this as a way of REALLY refining the site. I like to sample the image in my graphics program and get the hex# of the colors then use these to define the color of text so that colors match.
Also, get someone to proofread your site. No spelling problems jumped out at me, but punctuation could be better.

Percentage is simply a percentage of the user's screen...width is in actual pixels...a table that's set at 90% will take up nine-tenths of the browser window, no matter what screen size the person is using...a 700 pixel-wide table is always 700 pixels wide...
I just wanna say that you have a great site, and Staind ROCKS!

I think 'unnoficial' should be 'unofficial'.
I also agree that the imagemap is very hard to read with brown on red, it almost scared me away from the site!
Change the colors of the imagemap and the annoying spelling-mistake and the site looks great.
Is it part of the design that the background of the imagemap has a darker color than the background of the page?
And the logo should stand on the place of the banner, I think, but that's up to you. It's a good place to be if you're a fan of Staind!
