I've redone the Fixed Odds Forum site that I did a while back, I've got me a domain name, a host etc., and I would just like an idea of how the new layout looks. I've just knocked up the first page as a template, so the links don't work yet, but any comments would be greatly appreciated:
    http://www.football-punter.co.uk/

BTW, the first site's URL was http://members.tripod.co.uk/ffo/ , but I wouldn't bother looking at that one. It's nothing short of an embarrassment!

Cheers in advnace for your help.

First of all your general layout is good but there are a fer areas of the design that can be improved upon.

1.Your logo is a bit messy, its a little hard to read so I'd clean it up.

    2. I would get rid of the borders around the tables on the left and right or at least make them a different style. I hate that default grey ridge table border.

Other than that I think it looks ok. Maybe a little bland, though. But I have definitely seen worse.

Logo is the one are that really needs work...go with something smoother and simpler...doesn't even have to be great, just sharper and more legible.

Other than that the layout is good...however light blue and football just don't feel right together...I'd recommend using football-equse colors...like dark brown and green.

I also agree that the logo needs some work... I noticed that you have a place for the users to sign up for your newsletter, however there is not larger font or bold text to show that it is a newsletter. Your best bet to attract the eye would be to write "Newsletter" in bold, larger font, or different color.

One other little thing... In the first paragraph it reads like this:

quote/font>
Welcome to FootballPunter.co.uk, where everything that you need to know to win money through football fixed odds investment can be found (we don't gamble - that's what mugs do. We invest.) If you want to beat the bookmakers then we have systems...

You need to have a period after the " ) " closed parenthesis to end the sentence.

I don't think it's as much a football site as a betting (or investment) site. So the color theme is ok for me. I don't like the gray background though, I would suggest something along the spectrum of blue.

Cheers for the advice guys. The logo is certainly something that I know and always knew would need working on.

    Anything else?

Looks good, expect that banner which I'm glad to hear your changing it. The white background sort of dosen't go that great with the light blue. Maybe just a darker shade would make it look better. Or you could make that box to the right have a grey background or somethin. Other then that it's prety basic, but good.

I agree that the logo needs some work. The table borders doesn't really look that good, neither does the used colorscheme. Further everything is ok.
