I'm the "amateur webmaster" of a club/commuity site. It's grown remarkably over the last 15 months, and I'd like some "fresh eyes" to critique it, since I'm doing some spring housecleaning....

    TIA.

The format of your site seems good. One thing I might change is to simplify the menu on the left. You have both a menu on the top and on the left, its kinda confusing. That on your main page you have to explain to people how to navigate your site should tell you that you could use a simpler navigation structure.

The only other thing I'd suggest is to implement some CSS, it's really simple and can really improve overall looks. There is a coding in style article on this website.

The layout of your site is pretty much sorted and looks good with not much needing done to improve it. However, when I went to your what's new section I was nearly blinded by the yellow colour that you are using for highlighting some of the entries... You could maybe substitute it for another colour that's easier on the eyes. Another suggestion that I have is using CSS on your side menu as it would make it that little more interactive.

    Nice site though....

Yuor site took quite a while to load up but I think it might just be my dodgy connection, anyway:

I think you have too many adverts or what seem like adverts on your page
I also agree about the menu thingy, have you thought about have the main menu accross the top like you've got and then a sub menu on the left for each part of the main menu, If you get what I mean.
I don't like the "Rent this space" adverts, they give the site and unprofessional look - may be text link to an advertising page at the bottom by the copyright info could work?

    hope I could help you
