Two probable causes...

1. Lack of Time.

2. Lack of Money.

It takes a lot of both to develop large scale projects fulltime like that. Most likely why 90% of the projects listed at Sourceforge are dead in the water.

Not so much due to money, but lack of time is why my MySQL GUI app is still not out of the initial design stage. I wish I had more time, it's got a lot potential.
