    Mimicing Google News - possible?

    Would it be possible to create something like this? I would like to make my start up page have news/weather etc on it like google and automatily change. How would i go about doing this? I dont want to use googles becouse i want to make my own.

    I think that Google News is pulling its news from other sources (ie. BBC and AP). I think there are some ways to do this using XML. I am not an expert when it comes to XML but you could go around to some of the major news and weather sites and see if they offer a way to add that to your site.

    Google News is not edited by real editors. The stories are chosen using an algorithm.

    Try www.moreover.com. They provide news feeds and I think they have a free service (they used to).

    There are other free news feeds out there but I can't remember them right now.

    your own news feed? would be a quite a job I reakon.

    You can't just pull info from other sites and display it on your own you do realize?

    You are allowed to pull in the news headlines from other sites as long as when someone clicks to read the news item the user is taken to the original page.

    Do you mean that from a technical or legal point of view? Pulling content from other sites to display on your own is relatively easy using a server-side scripting language such as PHP. As to the legalities...
