i like quinns idea... im all for it.
i cant chat on wed, sat or late at night, my schedule is always changing. so set chat times wouldnt be such a great idea (for me). besides..[let me brag a little]...i just got another puppy, 10 wks, japanese akita, cutest thing...fuzz ball... so i wont have too much time to spend on the internet for the next few weeks...

How about just creating the channel and a bot to keep it open. Then pushing the matter to the SitePoint Admins and having them post it somewhere. Then people can wander in and out and newcomers can go there to ask there questions. Why does there have to be set times? If the room is empty they can come here.
Of course we can then schedule chats on different subjects as needed. Maybe even log them and create new content for SitePoint. Say an hour on PHP one day, ASP another or SQL the third.

I doubt the chat rooms would be empty too much anyway, since a few people seem to always be posting here.
I really would like to see this happen.

yeh, I think that everyone would love that, though a lot of us talk on ICQ/AIM/MSN already.

Anyone want to setup a bot to keep the channel open? We also have to figure out when to schedule chats...

That sounds like a good idea. I'm in it right now and I'm alone but that's okay.

It's no doubt because someone else on the QuickChat servers is named Adam.
I've got the chat open in mIRC. If anyone else wants to connect to linkline.ca.us.quickchat.org on port 6667 then /join #sitepoint.

d3v - I can't connect to that server through mIRC. Are there any other settings I need?
It just says "Unable to resolve server".
I'm in right now, but am alone - please can all the regular posters make a big effort to come in sometimes?
I know d3v comes in a lot - I saw him the other day. I have only ever seen 6 different people in the forum (they were not all at the same time!!)

Try linkline.ca.us.webchat.org:6667. For some reason it seems quickchat.org only works for me...although I might've messed up somewhere typing it.

For me, chat.netplanetz.net port 7000 is the only one that works.
Try both.
