Did everyone see the discreet little text links down the bottom? Congrats Sitepoint.

Hmm, I think they are very distracting and look cluttered. Personally, I would have gone for a banner ad.

I don't mind them much, but I would also prefer a banner ad...at first glance it looks like part of the Forum.

"Get of free stuff from Pets.com...because Pets can't drive"

    Typo alert!

A banner ad would have been more obtrusive. I like the text links. I don't think they are obtrusive though being at the bottom they can be missed easily. I also like the fact that they aren't on all topics but only on the forum list and topic list pages.

A brief message similar to "This community is sponsored by:" would have been nice from the sponsors standpoint.

We're actually getting $0 from the LinkGuard link, it's just a new and really useful tool that we've recently added and we wanted to draw your attention to it.

As for the Pets.com link, they didn't specifically sponsor these forums. They said we can promote the offer however we wanted and I'd thought we'd give the forums a try. Anyway, I've placed my order at Pets.com today for my dog, a German Shepard

I would rather have text links than banners, text links load much quicker. Also, I would click on a text link more often than a banner. Banners get annoying, and I (and I am sure many others) ignore them completely.

It would help if the ads were related to the forum. I understand the link checker, but why pets.com? No offence, but I came here for quality webmaster info (and SitePoint really delivers) but not Pet stuff.

Why don't you take a picture of Kora when you're snapping the others? That'd be cool.

And I like the text links. Haven't tried LinkGuard but I've been having a lil trouble with my WWW server.

Well best of luck on the ads...and if my family weren't allergic then we probably _would_ buy from them. (my family isn't allergic to pets.com, but pets overall )

Kora's an interesting name...does it have a meaning, or does it just sound cool?

I second Quinn's recommendation: let's have a look at Kora, SitePoint's official mascot.

I don't like pets.com... they are suing Conan Obrien for defamation because he used their little mascott in a humorous skit.

Corporations without a sense of humor shouldn't be allowed to have funny advertisements.

Just thought I'd add that Pets.com doesn't seem to have much to do with Sitepoint, bar their affiliate program...

It doesn't matter much me if Pets.com is related to SitePoint...no big deal...but I do agree: I don't care for their lawsuit much. Quite frankly, if you've heard them being interviewed about it, you can't really understand what it is they're suining over specifically...IE: they don't have any good reason and they'll lose miserably...they're just a dying dot-com looking for publicity.

Another tpyo alert on the LinkGuard one. Check all of your sites links [...]
There should be an apostrophe I would think because it is YOUR site and therefore is possesive.

(and yes, the tpyo was on purpose)
