I am launching a site soon, and I want to get another username.
When I get a new name, my posts count will go down to 0 (I think I have about 210 now) and my signature will still point to the old place. Is it at all possible to:
-Set my post amount to 210 so I can continue on my quest to match wluke, d3v, and a few others (OK, so I will never come close, but I still like having a beefy number...it makes me feel important. And yes i know, quality over quantity)
-Update all of the posts with my old sig to match my new one
I asked the same question awhile ago, but was told (by Eric, I believe) that this was not possible...I could be wrong, but I vaugely recall something about vBulletin (which SP will be upgrading too shortly) being capable of such a thing...any of the admins have the answer?
Just make your username not relevant to your site and it makes a world of difference! I've changed sites (most were 25% done though) that I was actively working on at least 4 times since Dec., and it woulda been bad to have 200 posts on 5 usernames.
Try abahta, aidan, hamster, etc., anything that has a special meaning to you. d3v came out of a random password generator from a Hypercard Stack (on the Mac) several years ago and it's been my username ever since for many things.
The signature could not be changed because they are stored in each html file rather than being pulled from your profile everytime someone views a one of your posts.
Since the staff has already stated that they will be moving to vBulletin soon, I think all this is a moot point. They should be able to import and change your profile once they convert over.
Everyone who wants to change their user name hold on until the vBulletin upgrade in a little while... I think vBulletin has that feature. I know for a fact that UBB doesn't (although the change would be possible if we went into the data files and edited them manually -- something that we don't even want to get into due to time constraints).
