    Website review - www.gravitydigital.com

This is the first full version of my freelance company website. Please review:

    http://www.gravitydigital.com/newsite/index.php3

I'm happy with the design although I am more than willing to accept suggestions. I'd like to focus on usability. Font sizes, positioning, gaps, spacing issues are what I'd like to know about. Please post your browser/OS specs along with your experience.

    Cheers

The only thing I don't like about the site are the frames; other than that it looks great. IE 5.01/2k

    Hi Creole,

Great Design mate, as I would expect from you .

    Couple of points:

    1) The bottom frame (with the copyright notice) looks a little grey to me, maybee try lightening it up a little to match with the top frame.

2)To me the bar on the right of the main page looks a bit out of place with the top frame (Mainly on the coloured pages.) Probably don't really want to change this though.

Other than that its a great design.

No problems in my browser/resolution etc.
As far as usability goes the text is easy to read, nice size, nicely paragraphed. Maybee the blue background on the about page is a little dark for the text but I can still read it fine. One thing I did notice is there was no link to the welcome page. Far enough you can click on the logo but a lot of users wouldn't realise that. Not reallt a major problem though.

Nice original design, keep it up.

    I'm browsing your site with:

    IE 6.0
    800x600 resolution
    Windows 2000
    56k connection

Everything is laid out nicely, design-wise. The site loads fast and the layout is very good. You should definitely give yourself a pat on the back (or a new tattoo! )

The only gripe I have is with some of the wording in the main sections of your site. Things like:

"We want our clients to stretch us"
"A final product with uncompromising synergy"

    I read that and thought...huh?

gotta love that text "..world domination through subliminal messages in ad banners "

Overall a very fine job! Good luck with it

    Gravity Digital Review

Creole, Had a look at your site today. First off, CUDOS TO YOU AND YOUR DESIGN TEAM.

To me, everything from the font choice to layout of design looks great(although I am partial to "verdana" fonts).

The only thing that my system had any trouble with was the d/l time for the "ABOUT US" & "SERVICES" pages. My system consist of a 500mhz celeron, 128mb RAM, 15" monitor, using MISE 6.

Best of luck to you and your staff

    Steviray

P.S. I especially liked the mouseover effects on your site!!!

    Nice one, Creole

Looks great! you have really integrated that flash really well.

I dont know i like the little pictures where they are right now, i'd prefer them to me more to the right, along with the (c) stuff.

    overall, i like it...

but one thing bothers me that i can't quite put my finger on. the top and bottom frames don't tie in together well with the content frame. the top frame is curvy and the content frame is real strong vertically - somehow, imho, you either need more curvy lines in the content or something vertical or horizontal in the top and bottom.

and what if you changed the bottom frame to the main solid color of the different sections as they loaded?

i like the flash navigation - nice touch with the title in the background on rollover.

hmmmm....I feel awkward talking to you about this, since it is so much more your area than mine, but I have a problem with the number of colors you are using. The grey is good as a neutral but you have green, gold, blue...and then you go ot Featured Client and it's like "Hello!" smack you in the face with the yellow!

    LOL...

I don't know what to say other than the variety of colors is dizzying. Fonts look good. Spacing is good. Layout is difficult because it's designed for 800x600 and all the way to the left. Then the banner lapses over into the right side of the screen. It almost looks like it wants to fill out the rest of the page, it just doesn't know how to.

Overall, nice site. I feel strange critiquing you like this, but I'm sure you'll just give it back to me in a few weeks when I post a site for review!

I just feel like you're so much better than this. It's not a bad site, but it's not a "creole" site either.

    See ya,

This site is probly as good as one can get.

Without spent a lot of money to hire a very good designer.

hey creole, just discovered something else on my father-in-law's firewall protected PC. He's got some funky settings that prevent alot of scripts and activeX stuff from being displayed. Your top menu area that I saw before is not showing uphere. You should include some old fashioned navigation somewhere too...text links.

Thanks for all of the comments so far. The one's that I've found most intriguiing are the suggestion to color change the bttom frame based on the current page and the notice that the Flash doesn't work on some puters. I'd like to put some conditional javascrit that places a chunk of code (HTML only) in place of the Flash menu if Flash is not loaded on the computer.

    Hi, the site looks good,

The only thing I'd say is that the overall colour scheme looks a bit too gray it makes me feel like crying!. Personally I'd give it a bit more colour (maybe it's just me)
    Just my two cents.

    OS: Still using Windows 98
    Screen: A mighty 15" - 800 x 600
Experience: Not much really, I'm an interactive specialist (design) but I'm just starting my career.

The site is packaged very well. The frames allow the user to always see the different sections of the site, so I'm all for it. It makes it simple to navigate.

The flash element at the top works, you are using flash like the people at Macromedia use it themselves. Intergrating it as an element when extra interactivity is called for.

I like how each page has a different colored background. For a site to be interesting you must balance continuity with variation.

The only thing I can suggest is making the screenshots in the porfolio section links to the sites.

    Sweet stuff creole.

Off my chest real quick before i begin. Frames suck...

Ok now onto that spiffy trick, done in flash. About us, Services, ect ect. Looks great and amazingly professional...But to the right of those buttons ruins it. The nav_masthead.gif, shows up burnt. So the clear, great flash rollovers, are ruined by this burnt image that doesnt blend it together at all..

Also the callout_box_we_are and sidebar_photo_welcome gif's show up burnt.
Its prob my AOL, thats causing this problem.
But, if all images were clear, Im sure I'd give this a better score.

    As is, currently.

That's pretty good. Just a few thoughts.

    1) Just a bit too gray for me, I'd add a little more color.

    2) Is that bottom frame really necessary?

    Other than that, awesome!

Not sure what you mean by "burnt". Could you take a screencap for me? It likely is AOL though as it adds some nasty compression before the user sees the image.

nice design, I love the navigation at the top. The only thing is that someone using 800*600 would have to scroll to see the rest of the top logo. But they would be abel to see all the text so it's not much of a problem.

Not a mac user, but I did have one comment/suggestion.

The site is so nice and round and soft with the shading and ovals up top...

... the harsh seperation of the long graphic area on the right (with the heavy drop shadow and deep shade shift) sort of puts me off. Its a very large block of area that seems cut out of the site.

Maybe if the drop shadow was not as heavy and the area not so wide?

    Just my 2 cents.

Rap Battle you gave it 6.5/10 how can you say that, the site is great, you cant get much better than this.

I like the design especially the Flash at the top!
Having the box's of text is good because people acutally read them rather than the other chunks of text.

I agree there is a problem with the grey down the bottom, maybe lighten the grey then ad a little 1pxl border and the top of the little frame in the current grey colour. Just a thought!
