    phpbb forum and search engines

I installed a phpbb 2.0.2 forum recently and i want to submit it to search engines.

I changed the header and the fooder of the the forum, but the header now is just a sliced image, and no HTML text.

The first text that the search engine finds after the site name are some phpbb links. So the discription of my site now is something like:

Site name FAQ FAQ Search Search Memberlist Memberlist Usergroups Usergroups

    (yes those words repeat)

Is there any way to change this without adding any visible text above those links? (and at the same time be sure that what i do will not be considered spam by any search engines)

Then what should i do? Add some text above those links just for the search engines that use the first text they find as a description, or just ignore those search engines?
