how do you prevent losing form data when paging back?

I've used a lot of forms in the past, that if I left out a field, it would let me go back via the back button and finish filling it in without losing the rest of the data.

I've installed a program that allows reader reviews. If someone leaves out a field and submits it, then receives the error message, they click the back button but all the data is lost.

    How can we prevent this?

in the script that tells the error, make a form with hidden fields containing the data to send back, and a submit button titled "BACK" (or similar)

when the user clicks the button, it sumbits the data back to the previous page. now you just have to make sure that the previous page uses this data to prepopulate those fields.
