Cloud ????

Ok, I'm going to bite....... (but I have no idea where to put this thread)

I keep hearing more and more people talk about "The Cloud"... like it's some type of God. I have looked online and found a lot of stuff, most of is very confusing.

I was pointed to a website called www.vmware.com.. I went to the website, and found a video. I watched the video and now I am even more confused than I ever was before.

Can someone please tell me what is a cloud (besides something that makes it rain) and what the heck is it for? I get tired of hearing about it because it's driving me nuts that I have no idea what it is. I find information about it, but nothing that helps me know what it is.

What is a cloud??? What is a VMWare that I'm supposed to install on my computer and do I need an unbrella for my desk?

See I found this video it's like 2 mins long... I watch stuff like this and it makes me even more confused then before I watched it. I wish I could go back in time and not click play.

These people sound like they are talking out of their butts... They don't sound like they have any clue what they are talking about. That's why they are CEOs and not CIOs..

Ok lets try to explain it in simple language.

Cloud= Hard Disk not on your computer but owned by a big greedy corp like Google in a huge data center where all your Data resides.

As the word describes itself Cloud is an avenue where you can store your data. It is not a hard disk but a huge storage centre where you can store enourmous data and links. Google provides and few more too.
