By "meet" I mean actually had fairly substantial conversations with for an hour or more or several of them, so there aren't a lot of them...

Lawrence Taylor, Steven King, Chipper Jones, Brendan O'Carroll.

    Sorry, that's about it!

Fame is quite relative, individual and selective...

Once when I landed in Calgary, I saw a Man somewhat confused, as I got closeer I realized that it was Walter Gretzky (Wayne Gretzky #99 Hockey Player's Dad). There was a large volume of people, noise, and cart traffic in the area. Being smaller in height (in this case) did not help him see. I went up to him and asked he needed help. He was quite calm and asked where to get his baggage. I offered for him to walk with me as I was going to the same area. We chatted and he asked if I knew who he was, I answered 'yes'. He asked if I knew hockey and I said "I'm Canadian" he laughed and told me a story about when he and Wayne just started to work as a Dad kid team when Wayne was learning to skate. We got to the baggage area and he said thank you and met two large guys in blue suits. One of the guys did a slight bow to me, Walter gave a quick wave and it was over.

Probably a thousand or more people had rushed by him not knowing or caring who he was. Yet to me, the charity, the family and his Son, makes him famous - at least to me, yet his fame is relative to me and maybe a select few others.

The people I have met/known, whom I consider 'famous', are probably a group who YOU have never heard.

I was waiting in the Newark Airport (in the 1990s) and a tall woman sat next to me. I recognized her as Dionne Warwick shortly before we were surrounded by autograph hounds. By coincidence, on that same flight was the old actor Mike Connors. Although they had never met the two of them struck up a conversation and asked to be seated together on the plane.
By a bigger coincidence, I was sitting the row just in front of them. So I had a brief conversation with them both (and that is how I learned they had not previously met and asked for seats together...).

I am personal friends with Mel Kampmann.
David Bronstein is an old school friend.

In 1980, I met Burt Lancaster and spent some time with Susan Sarandon when I worked on the movie Atlantic City. I also spent time with Harvey Atkin during filming of exteriors in New Jersey.
