    a good W3C reference?

Does anyone know of a good book that actually explains the HTML standards/recomendations of W3C?

I've taught myself HTML, and am a hobby webmaster. I don't like adding all the code that is browser-specific, so I was trying to make sure it was perfectly acceptable to W3C's valdidation standards.

Yet I can't fully understand the techno-babble of the W3C site, so I was hoping there was a book dedicated to explaining those standards in an easier to understand method.

    Thanks for any help!
