    Need ideas for Site Map

    I'm looking for some ideas for how to present a site map.

    I'm thinking of this approach:

    * Explorer-like expandable/collapsable menu
    * Must degrade gracefully in browsers that do support standards re: DOM (ie, N4, Opera) to display simple long list
    * It needs to be heavily CSS-driven (if not completely) - no nested tables etc
    * No unnecessary scripting - a bare minimum
    * Must be search engine friendly
    * Must be screen reader friendly - totally accessible

    So, that's my task.

    I am hoping that you can recommend some good site maps. It does not matter if they do not fit with the above criteria - I'm only looking to see what methods other people use.

    Many thanks - hope you can recommend something.

    Regards

    Hmmmmm ....

    * Explorer-like expandable/collapsable menu

    and

    * Must be screen reader friendly - totally accessible

    don't really sit together. In terms of sheer user-friendliness, I can't fault Accenture for this kind of layout:

    That's one I did for them to their template -- unfortunately they don't always stick to it themselves, but I think it's really clear.

    It's in tables, but there's absolutely no reason why that couldn't be DIVs.

    why would you try to show/hide sections of the sitemap... i think in most cases a sitemap should show the entire site... also... typically the sitemap is the most lowFi section in a site... just incase a browser issue gets in the way... and its accessible.

    just a thought.
