I'm confused about <q>, <cite>, <blockquote>.

Especially after reading that article: Quoting and citing with <blockquote>, <q>, <cite>, and the cite attribute | HTML5 Doctor (which is great, by the way).

Here's what I want to do:

I heard someone speak at a conference. I'd like to use a couple of sentences for the opening of an article (rights have been granted), as if a prelude.

Which tag would I use? I would go for <blockquote>, but I just wanna make sure.
