can anyone explain it to me?

    Thanks!

Because the alternative is using colspan/rowspan in all the other cells

Because nested tables can sometimes be more flexible, and let you use more complicated layouts/alignments, but it is generally easier to just use cells

Due to the nature of tables being not particularly flexible in positioning terms, sometimes nesting tables is necessary in order to achieve content positioning.

The more complex it becomes, the more redundancy you get and the page source becomes a bit messy. They also have various rendering "quirks" in various browsers.

Netscape and Mozilla do tend to lag a bit when you browse a table heavy page I've noticed.

Stick to cells as far as you possibly can, thats my advice!
