    attribute for a href

Is there an atribute for the a href tag that works like the alt attribute in the img src".." tag?

I want to be able to put the mouse on a link and a short discription pops up like when you put your mouse over an immage.

    Thanks
    Jason

There certainly is and its something I use all the time.

    Code:
    <a href="mypage.html" title="News: This happened, some bloke reported x, y and z">Blah blah blah</a>
this title attribute can also be used for images, and it will popup the tooltip in Netscape, Opera and Mozilla, whereas alt text only appears in Internet Explorer would you believe when you hover an image. (Although I do believe if the image doesnt load the alt text will display in the placeholder position)

For usability purposes, might be a good idea to make it a sitewide convention if you're going to implement it, downside is that it takes a long time!

    AWESOME!

That works great. Just what I was looking for. Thank you very much for that tip.

I had never realized that the alt text thing didn't show a tool tip in the non IE browsers.

    Thanks again
