    Thanks for the update Herbster.

Hopefully any other merchants they are affiliated with will follow suit.

    Hi darnell!

Some other merchants have, but not until informed by their affiliates. You will find a list of companies at the following URL that currently accept Morpheus/Buyersport as an affiliate.

All companies on this list need to be informed by their affiliates before this situation can be brought under control.

    http://www.morpheusshop.buyersport.com

Edit: My understanding is that Coldwater Creek has dropped them.

What is more shocking is, Morphues has dozens of affiliate accounts and registers with a different account with the same merchant if dropped earlier..

I can clearly See 4 CJ PIDS on the homepage.

Morpheus/buysport has hundreds of dummy/one page sites. if a merchant drops morpheus, they register again with one of these sites and then add their main http://www.morpheusshop.buyersport.com shopping site. Many Ignorant merchants just dont realize that they are paying morpheus for nothing. they infact are losing $$ spent on PPC, SEO, Offline Advertising and bookmarks etc.

For instance, A shopper(who has morpheus installed) lands on Amazon Thru google and BANG a reward box pops up saying click here and get rewarded for shopping. there goes a clear case of hijacking. These merchants end up paying Morpheus for nothing when infact morpheus have the last laugh.

Well, The most heart breakening part is for us affiliates. We work hard optimizing, Spending money On PPC, etc to get those sales. How would u feel when the shopper finally finds our page and then "Morpheus Reward box" pops up overwriting our codes and redirecting them to their affiliated shopping site.

And the thought of 80 million computers loaded with morpheus and more downloaded every day makes my spine shiver. Damn They Are Bloody making money at our cost

    Its odd...

I enjoy file sharing but I make so much money from affiliate programs.

Its almost like I wouldn't care if the whole gnutella network shut down just to stop companies like Morpheus.

If I'm understanding the situation correctly, the scumware and the fileswapping software are separate but bundled and delivered at the same time.

The RIAA battle with the fileswappers raises concerns about privacy. Also, attacking the software because some people use it illegally is akin to attacking auto manufacturors because some cars are used to transport stolen goods.http://www.fool.com/news/foth/2002/f...?ref=foolwatch .

Even if the fileswapping software is declared illegal, the scumware can still be attached to some other application. So, it looks like two separate issues to me and other than the suit against Gator, I'm not seeing a lot of action against the scumlords.

    Fighting Scumware

Please see the latest posts in the Affiliate Section of the forums for help in fighting scumware on your websites. Also see http://www.repairingappliancesyourself.com for the scripts in use.

Please note, Netscape is currently not handled by the amazon script. This is being worked on. If you have any info that would help please let me know.

Yes, it could be attached to something else. But what will be downloaded as frequently and as widely as a file swapping program?

I suspect a lot of the people who have downloaded file swapping software are too young to have credit cards.

How about a program that facilitates group roll playing games?
Or an app that is targeted to the porn crowd?
Or something intended for online gamblers?

More threatening, apps aimed at online shoppers like Ebate's Moe Money Maker?

Jackpot's first incarnation was as a downloadable slot machine offering cash prizes. I don't remember if it included scum, but it easily could have.

Until scumming is determined illegal, I believe inovation will find a way to deliver it.
