    I think this is important. Several days ago i faced that problem.My site all back link have www version. Then i redirected with .htaccess. Now Ok. I think it's good for link building with www version.

    canonical links cannot be ignored, your site url must be in given form,
    http://www.domain.com if you find url having without www just redirect the webpage to your main websites home url. that will be benefited and your site will saved from canonical issues.
