Spec for a win 2000 web server

Hi everyone, I am in the middle of specing up a win 2000 web server.

It'll be running a small database driven website with a php/mySQL forum that quite busy.

Does anyone have any reccomendations for what kind of spec I should go for?

    Thanks

    Laura

I reckon any modern server would handle that nowadays. Even the cheapest ones wouldn't be tested. If it were me I'd go for a low end of the range server made by any of the trusted names. We use these for similar sort of stuff and they're absolutely fine. We have no trouble at all.

Thanks I have had a peek.

Do you think it makes a difference buying a Dell server pc as opposed to just building your own up?

I mean from a reliability point of view....?

No. Not really. I reckon one you build would be just as good, but in a commercial environment where I have 1,000 other things to do, if a server breaks I want it to be someone elses problem! See what I mean? I don't have time to grab a screwdriver and start investigating. I'd rather ring Dell and say "FIX IT!!"

I see from your profile you're a Derbyshire Mini nut! Saw a funky looking Mini parked up when I was driving through Derbyshire last weekend on my way to Manchester. Yours?
