    MySQL Database Backups on Win2K

Reading Kevin Yanks's book chapter about MySQL administration i had an idea to have a way to get an automatic/regular backup of a MySQL database.

First i created a command line batch file e.g. db_bck.bat
    containing the following:

    Code:
rem GO TO THE mysqldump.exe DIRECTORY
    cd C:\mysql\bin

    rem DO THE ACTUAL BACKUP
    mysqldump -h localhost -u root -pmypass my_db > C:\backup\my_db\my_db_bck.sql
Then using the Windows Task Scheduler i instruct it to run this batch file (db_bck.bat) as i want it to e.g.

Every day @ 0:00 or when ever you want it to, as many times you want it to.

I also have a few questions for the Menthors

Will this produce reliable backups in a site with lots of traffic?

I mean if the batch runs @ the same time that users are doing changes in the database?

Will it in any way corrupt the database files!?

I thought this was a good idea, so i wanted to share it with y'all.

Cheers and thanks for any replies

P.s. I'm only reposting this coz i would really apreciate some feed back on the questions...
