    MySql install

    Hi,
I am installing PHP and MySQL in Linux.. When I reset the password for MySql as

mysqladmin -u root password "your new password"

    it works fine..
but when I tried to do

    mysqladmin -u root reload

it shows me the error message

When I checking the status as

    mysqladmin -u root -p status

It shows a error message as
:connect to server at 'localhost ' failed.
    Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using Password: 'No'}

Can some one please help me with this
    Thanks a lot

if i'm not mistaken, thats exactly what it is suposed to do. That shows you that the changes you just made qith the mysqladmin program worked.

Now you need to logon to the server using:

    mysql -h localhost -u root -p

Then it will prompt u for the password u chose.

anyway check out kevin yanks article on this subject in:
    http://www.mysql.com/articles/ddws/7.html

    hope this helps you out....
