Wow, I'm beginning to wonder what made it so easy for me to get in. Must have been a fluke.

Greenbusting refers to a program they instituted where editors can edit other categories than their own - their edits simply have to be approved before they go live - its very much like Zeal. This is also one of the good changes they have made at DMOZ as it allows editors to branch out without worrying about territorial metas rejecting them.

Did they reject you for applying to too big a category for a newbie? Did they give you a reason?

The one I went for is smaller and burried further down in the directory.

    I am/was an editor...

My three categories still say I am the editor but when I login it says I am inactive. I have logged in within the past 4 months but I guess that wasn't enough.

Hopefully one of these days it will remove me from the database since it won't let me do anything anyway...

    Unhappy

Can anyone tell me if this site is dmoz material ?

    http://01motors.com

For months, I have been trying to submit it to the "Trinidad and Tobago : Automotive" subsection. Still no result.

    Am I missing something ?

    Thanks

Google searches for "Trinidad cars" or "trinidad used cars"
    list it rather high

Have you asked the editor of that category? Try sending the editor a politly worded inquiry about your site, perhaps you'll get a helpful reply.

Hey, look at that. I tried again today and it went in no problem. I guess I'll get back to editing my category.

Thanks a lot for your help hildea!!

Yes, I lurk here from time to time, as does hildea.

I'm sorry about the application problems. Could they be browser-specific? I don't have problems with forms with my Mac browsers, but maybe something about Windows or other platforms erases form data?

If you care to report the problems, we'd definitely work to solve them. We want applications from everyone who wants to apply, and we don't want any sort of bug to interfere with that.

Greeenbusting is certainly a very good idea and does help to manage the backlog.

As for becoming an editor, my application passed very quickly and easily. And as I have mentioned I have had no problems since. Indeed, very soon after becoming an editor I applied to have the category name changed - the previous title made little sense to end users in terms of the sites listed - and this went through with no problem.

MissingArrow: Your login timed out because you didn't make an edit for four months - it's not enough to log in. If you want to resume editing, please fill out this form: http://dmoz.org/reinstate.html .

The names of timed-out editors sometimes linger on the public pages until someone makes a new edit there.

So, I guess the lesson there is if you get your category in perfect shape, and don't find any new sites to add for 4 months, you better get another category.

My editor status has been removed. Don't know why, but there's nobody editing my former category now. I'd also like to know how easily they'll find anyone more suitable, seeing as I was editing a category related to the county I live in.

    Ok, mini rant over!

Nope, I never even recieved a rejection. This was a while back when they first started though. They may have just been loaded with requests at the time.

Could it be that you've been inactive, moonman? Apply for reinstatement.
