www.phpbb.com
you really shouldn't attempt to build a forum unless you know what you're doing.

Do you actually want to make a forum from scratch or get a pre-made one ?

Hello. Take a look at Invison Board at: www.invisionboard.com which is very easy to use, moderate and install.

I second Add's recommendation of phpBB. I use it for one of my sites and it was very easy to set up. And best of all, it's FREE!

Try the free ones out. You might find one that does the job for you.
If not, some very nice commericial solutions are listed also.

I agree, Invision is your best bet! I have just finished seting mine up, and it's VERY easy, cause if I managed to set it up, anyone else can, cause I am not very gifted....
And hotnuts21, their forums are very easy to costumize as well, I got really pissed off with the Invision logo, cause I couldn't remove them, so i've posted on their support forum and it's really good! They really support you there!
