Canadian Web work situation in Vancouver, Toronto or other cities?

I have British/Canadian dual nationality by birth and after a 5 week holiday/reccie in Canada am at present thinking of moving from my lifelong home in Newcastle, UK to either Vancouver or maybe Toronto to live and work.

My skills are in web design and development like Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, PHP, MySQL etc. and I've been doing OK freelancing in the last year.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how easy it will be to find either permanent employment or freelance jobs in Vancouver, Toronto or other parts of Canada? What sort of jobs are around and what do they pay these days?
