plugins that the user has installed detection?

anyone know of any way to detect which plugins a user has installed?

i'd prefer to be able to get an over-view of what they've got instead of testing for specific plugins, if that's possible. i think it is because i went to a site that showed how much info they can get from you just going to their site and they gave a list of the plugins that i had installed - one of which is a pretty unusual/uncommon one.

any pointers/info on this much appreciated.
