Had a virus raise it's ugly head earlier this week. Got rid of it but ever since then, wamp won't open in the bin. It's color is red and it won't connect to my local host.
I've found C://localhost/wamp program on my C: drive. There is also a C://wamp where I've done most of my work.
I tried to uninstall wamp which removed it from my desktop, but apparently didn't remove it from my C: drive. I've restored my system to yesterday, before I uninstalled the wamp server, but I still can't get it to open phpmyadmin etc. in the bin
I've attached the error message when I double click on the wamp icon from my desk top.Aestan Tray Menu error.JPG
I read about being sure it would open in port80, but I don't know how to check that it is opening there.
No matter what I do, the aestan tray encounters a problem and needs to close. Uninstall, install, 32bit, 64bit, official, unofficial. All with the same aestan try problem. I just don't know.
You can go here and download 32 bit wamp server...
before installing that, you can remove all existing wamp server installations, restart the system and then install... Download WampServer 2 - Download PHP, apache, MySQL
what version of windows do you have?
are you running iss on http://localhost?
are you running a networking program such as skype?
basicly your port is being used by something else instead of wamp so you will need to close what ever is running on port80 and then restart all services in wamp.
I'm sure you are absolutely right, port 80 is being used by something else. I'm sorry to be so ignorant, and I don't know how to find out what is interfering. Would you please be so kind as to tell me how to check out what is using port 80, then change it?
OK, I'm running Windows XP
I don't know what iss is. I've deleted my local host. Am I right in thinking that it's connected to the WAMP server?
I had Skype at one time. Don't remember uninstalling it but it isn't there now. Skype isn't anywhere. I found some PNG images in the old data file but not program.

Reason: search for Skype came up empty
