Shopping cart for an online marketplace?

I'm trying to figure out the best solution for my project, which is an online marketplace allowing multiple sellers to sell their (mainly) digital products. I have quite a bit of experience with Drupal so Ubercart with its Ubercart Marketplace module seem like a natural fit. However, there have been no new releases for Marketplace for more than a year, and it's still in beta for Drupal 6 (with D7 already here).

Should I just opt in for Ubercart or are there other good solutions out there?

I don't know if this is of any help as you ask for Drupal carts but I use Virtuemart with Joomla and I love it.

Would you think about using Joomla instead of Drupal or do you not want to change? I don't have any experience with Drupal but wouldn't mind checking it out at some point.
